Hello Grace!
I LOVE your blog. I was having a discussion with one of my friends and we could not reach a conclusion - and we both figured you would know the answer. What is the proper etiquette for sending a wedding gift thank you note? We have heard anywhere from one month after the honeymoon to the first year after marriage. I received a (gasp!) TEXT MESSAGE, thanking me for a lovely wedding gift I sent for an August wedding. I assumed the text was just a quick way to let me know that the gift arrived, and was certain I would be getting a formal thank you note in the mail - as the wedding itself was black tie. It is now mid-February and I am still sans thank you note. Could it be possible that the text message was the actual thank you note?
Please help!

Thanks for writing, thanks for reading, glad you love the blog. I had to pause and take a deep cleansing breath and steady myself with a strong drink after reading your email--a TEXT MESSAGE, egad. Talk about Grunt. General consensus in the etiquette world dictates that 3 months is the frozen limit. And yes, handwritten notes are absolute.
Not surprisingly, I have strong opinions on The Art of Gratitude.
Keep up YOUR good Graces!
